The Georgia Workers' Compensation system is designed to help ensure that an employee, who has been injured on the job and/or suffers from an occupational disease from working on the job, is provided money and medical benefits. However, the process for accessing these statutory benefits can often be a very bureaucratic, confusing, and difficult process. In addition, an injured employee has a very limited time frame within which he/she can file a claim, Georgia law states a claim must be filed within one year of the date of injury.
